This Wednesday, the Florida Poultry Association hosted the 2018 Southeast Egg Industry Conference at the beautiful Hammock Beach Club in Palm Coast, Florida. Representatives in the industry gathered from all over the southeast to the beautiful resort, celebrating a year in the industry.

The conference spanned Tuesday through Thursday, and on Wednesday night featured entertainment with dueling pianos, a high-energy interactive show not normally seen at corporate events and conferences like this.
Florida Poultry Association Executive Vice President Nancy Stephens, responsible for hiring the dueling piano entertainment, noted before the event that this is “a fun group,” as they have hosted other unique entertainment in years’ past like magicians and Polynesian dancers.
This year, the dueling piano entertainment, provided by Premier Piano Shows Dueling Pianos, based in Orlando, featuring married couple Amy and Randy Keith, taking requests from the crowd. Following the awards given to VIPs, the couple led the crowd in singing classic hits like “Bad Bad Leroy Brown,” “Brown Eyed Girl,” and “Sweet Caroline.”
Wednesday proved to be a long day for the attendees, starting with meetings as early as 6:30 am, as well as golfing and quite a bit of networking and socializing at the bar. Stephens noted that the event might end early, but asked the married piano duo to “read the crowd” and “play by ear,” as they always do. At the family friendly event, several children actually got the dance floor popping, and laid the foundation for the adults to follow over the next 2 hours.
While the kids enjoyed “Shaking it off” like Taylor Swift, the adults kept “Rocking Around the Clock” on the dance floor. Particularly in the last 45 minutes of the show, when other events had seen a mass exodus of attendees, it seemed like the dance floor actually got more crowded as the end of the performance approached. According to Amanda Bowen, V.P. and assistant to Stephens, attendees reported that they never had so much fun at their event, and that they had never had as many people stay until the end of the performance as this year.
The magic of dueling pianos once at a conference once again showed it’s power to tap through multiple generations, and keep everyone singing, clapping and dancing all night long, it will be an event that these families will rememberfor many months, and hopefully will duplicate at their conference again in future years.
About “Dueling Pianos”
Dueling Pianos is a concept made famous most notably by piano bars in the late 20th century including Pat ‘O Brien’s and Dallas Alley. In the late 1990s, the chain Howl at the Moon adapted the concept to include a full band concept, and started franchising the concept as a product available off-site for private events, corporate parties and weddings.
